EXPLANATION OF THE SPOT LIGHT AWARD, "RECOGNIZING & HONORING THE ANGELS IN OUR COMMUNITY."
It is known that there are many individuals, in and around the City of Charleston, SC, who are thought of as "Angels on Earth." These individuals work tirelessly; giving of their time, energy, and money, to make a positive difference for others in their communities, while neither seeking nor expecting anything in return.
The Host of this black tie dinner, red carpet affair seeks to create an opportunity to thank these "Angels," to show them that they are appreciated, by giving them "Their Flowers" while they are alive. The Host also seeks to utilize this Event to open the eyes of others, to see that they too can do positive things that will change lives and make a real difference in our communities.
The Awards Committee will select 18 nominated individuals as finalists, and all
18 will be recognized and honored at the Event as "Angels in Our Community."
Yet only 9 recipients will actually be chosen to receive A 2018 Spot Light
Award, with each Award given being named with the approval of the family, after
each one of the Emanuel 9 victims.
Thus each winner will be chosen partially due to a quality that they co-exhibit with the Mother Emanuel Victim their Award is named for.
